Devon Girls League U16 - Play Off

Crediton Youth U16 Girls 1 Moors Youth 3

u16 girls may 2019

Crediton Youth U16 Girls had to settle for Runners-Up after an exciting game played out at Happy Meadow - Bickleigh. The Crediton Girls probably edged the first half, but went 1-0 down from a free kick early in the second half. Moors then made it 2-0 before Cheyanne Coakley pull one back for Crediton. But as the girls pushed for the equaliser Moors got the all important third goal. Congratulations to the players and coaches on what has still been an amazing season.

Crediton Youth U7’s enjoyed a fun day down at Ottery St Mary.

Craig Woodman the Exeter City left back recently came out to Crediton Youth FC on a training night to meet many of the players.
Whilst out at Lords Meadow, he answered questions from the players about his time in the game and the life of a professional footballer.
This season the club has sponsored Craig’s training kit. Club Chairman Adrian Harvey said “we think it’s important to have a link with our local league club and to sponsor a locally born player”.

Crediton Youth U16’s went into their EDYL Plate Final against Okehampton Argyle the reigning Division Two Champions as very much the underdogs. The final was played out at Tiverton Town’s Ladysmead ground.
The first half was a fairly tight affair, with both teams defending superbly. Crediton Youth’s best chance came when a Samuel Del-Rio free kick struck the crossbar with Billy Stone just unable to turn the the rebound into the net. With seconds remaining a fine long range effort found its way into the Crediton goal to send Okehampton into the break one goal up.
The Crediton lads started the second half the stronger side and soon got a much deserved equaliser through Billy Stone. As the half progressed Okehampton got back into the game, when a great goal line clearance from Ben Tilke only cannoned off a Okehampton play to find its way desperately into the Crediton net. An outstanding save from man of the match Jordon Jones kept Crediton in the game, but it unfortunately resulted in him sustaining an injury which limited his mobility from then on. As they pushed for the equaliser, and created several chances, Crediton Youth paid the ultimate price late on as Okehampton grabbed a third goal.
But in what was their final competitive game for Crediton Youth the boys can be extremely proud of the performance they gave and the part they played in a great final.
u16 cup final
When Crediton Youth U9 Cobras and Vipers took to the field at Tiverton Town FC to take part in the Exeter & District Youth League Cup Final, it showed just how far the club has progressed over the past few seasons.

With not much between the two sides it was always going to be a close game.

Lucas Verrier with an early goal put the Cobras in front. The game flowed from end to end with some fine saves from both goal keepers, kept the scoreline at 1-0, before Seb Roche with a fine effort brought the scores level just before half time.

u9s cup final 2019The second half was again end to end stuff, and only some superb defending from both sides kept the score at one each. Just as it looked like the half would finish all square Seb Roche grabbed his second goal of the game to give Vipers victory.

Both sides should be so proud of the part they played in an exciting final. Special thanks must go to the EDYL officials and Tiverton Town FC for putting on such a great finals weekend.

ecfc tournament

Crediton Youth U14 Girls went into their final home game of the season, already being crowned Devon Girls League champions, after their nearest rivals Plymouth Phoenix could no longer overtake them in the league.
An exciting game against Galmpton Girls, was played out on the main pitch at Lords Meadow.
The Crediton Girls went in at half time 1-0 up courtesy of an Ellie Bishop goal. Galmpton really turned things around in the second half and at 3-1 seemed to be in control. A spectacular Millie Robinson goal brought the home side back into the game, before Ellie Bishop grabbed her second of the game to secure a draw for the Crediton side.
Winning the league title was a special moment for the club, as this was the first girls side to be formed, after a break of several years with no girls football at Crediton Youth.
The side was started just four years ago following an initiative from Devon FA. Since then another three sides have been introduced at the club.
Much of the success of the side has been down to the hard work and dedication of all the coaches and helpers involved including Sean Hartrey, Dave Hartshorne, Nikki Sandland and past club chairman Martin Daniel.

U16s Match

u16s v copplestone

With the players of both Copplestone Rangers and Crediton Youth Under 16’s nearing the end of their time with youth football. It was decided to arrange a final fixture between the two sides under floodlights at Crediton United’s Lords Meadow ground.
With a large crowd in attendance, the first half was quite an edgy affair with Crediton Youth going in at the break 2-0 up thanks to two well taken Billy Stone goals.
A fine long range effort from Samuel Del-Rio at the start of the second half set the tone for the second period, soon after Billy Stone soon grabbed his third of the night. Duncan Smith with a rare swaray into the opponents half got his first ever goal for the side to make it 5-0, which sparked some wild goal celebrations. Billy Stone grabbed his fourth of the evening following a great team move, before Matt Worrall rounded the keeper to make it 7-0 to the home side.
Special thanks must go to Crediton United for the use of the facilities and to Dan Uren for referring the game.
