SPECIAL DAY FOR
JORDAN JONES

Fairfax Park

It was a very special day for former Crediton Youth FC goal keeper Jordon Jones, when he was one of the four lucky winners to be a Super Sub for the Manchester United Legends team in the charity game against a Hinkley Point C select side.
The game raised over £10,000 for MIND Somerset and took place at Bridgewater Town FCs Fairfax Park ground and attracted a crowd of over 900 spectators.
The legends side included former first team players Wes Brown, Keith Gillespie, Frank Stapleton and guest player Lee Hendrie.
The Hinkley Point C side was made up from workers and contractors from the site. The squad of seventeen was chosen from over one hundred players, who had attended the first trials, with many of whom having played a high level of amateur football.
The crowd witnessed an exciting game which finished 2-2 with the legends winning on penalties.
Hinkley went in one nil up at half time, but a missed penalty was to cost them. Danny Webber equalised for the legends early in the second half.
With thirty minutes to go Jordon and the three other super subs came on for the legends. Hinkley went 2-1 up following a fine move and finish. Shortly after that two superb saves from Jordon, wearing his Crediton Youth keepers top, kept the legends in the game, and the young keeper won the hearts of the crowd.
Late in the game Matt Jansen the former Blackburn Rovers striker guesting for the legends equalised with a long range effort.
The game then went to penalties with the Legends winning 3-2.

2019 CHARITY MATCH

Lords Meadow

Crediton Youth FC’s Charity Sunday attracted a bumper crowd to Lords Meadow.

A mini tournament featuring three sides, Crediton Youth Under 16'€™s, Crediton Youth Coaches and the Friends of Ian Leach, saw three short matches take place, to find the overall winning side.

All three sides made their way to the centre of the pitch, alongside players from the Under 7 and 8 sides who were mascots, before a minutes applause took place to remember both James Uren and Ian Leach.

The first game saw the Coaches play the Under 16â€'s. The game started at a frantic pace with both sides creating some good chances. The coaches went in front when an in swinging corner drew a superb save from Jordon Jones, only for the ball to eventually fall to Adam Clark to volley into the net. The second period of the game saw the Under 16’s dominate possession, with some great efforts only to be continually thwarted by the Coaches keeper Ben Pidgeon. When an horrendous back pass from Adrian Harvey, led to much confusion and resulted in a penalty for the Under 16’s, Ben Pidgeon again produced a superb save to deny Under 16’s keeper Jordon Jones his first ever goal for the side. When a late volley from Charlie Rook hit the side netting it was obvious it was just not going to be their day.

The second game saw the Coaches take on the Friends side. This game was always going to be a tight affair and the Coaches eventually went one up, following a fine move down the right side before Adam Clark again found the back of the net with another fine finish.
With so many players so keen to play, both sides made massive chances going into the second period of the game. Momentum swung to the Friends side and eventually a ball across the face of goal found Kevin Pitts to tuck the ball over the line, for the equaliser. The game looked as if it would finish a draw, until an aimless ball forward from Jim Southhall caused Lee Waring all sorts of problems, and the ball fell to Andrew Bunny Warren to roll the years back, and calmly place the ball into the back of the net, to a huge roar from the crowd to win game and the tournament for the Coaches side.
The final game saw the U16'€™s play the Friends side. In their final game together the 16's set off at a great pace and created some early opportunities before Samuel Del-Rio with probably the best goal of the afternoon put them in front, after beating three defenders and then cooly chipping the ball over the despairing keeper into the goal.
The second period saw the Friends get back into the game and after some pressure get awarded a penalty. The resulting spot kick from Hayden Leach saw another fine save, with Jordon Jones managing to turn the ball over the bar for a corner. Minutes later Hayden got his revenge, when the ball fell to him in the box and he neatly curled the ball into the corner of the net. Despite a flurry of late chances from the 16’s the game ended a draw.
All the games were officiated by Dan and Matt Uren who both guessed as well for the Coaches side.
Crediton Youth would like to thank everyone who supported the day and helped to make the day such a success, especially Crediton United FC, Exeter City FC and Sandford Orchards.
Overall on the day, just over £2000.00 was raised for the club’s three chosen charities - Devon Air Ambulance, MIND and Pete'€™s Dragons in memory of both James and Ian.

Results of the draw were - signed Ethan Ampadu Chelsea shirt - Dennis Cavanagh, signed Adrian - West Ham keeper gloves- Jo Hole, signed Exeter City shirt - Richard Philp, signed Craig Woodman shirt - Steve Carpenter, Exeter City Match Day Tickets - Josh Poole.

2019 6-A-SIDE TOURNAMENT

Lords Meadow

Best Ever Six a Side Tournament for Crediton Youth Football Club

Lords Meadow playing fields and Crediton United'€™s main pitch recently played host to Crediton Youth Football Club's Annual Six-a-Side Tournament. The event kindly sponsored by Crediton Dairy, attracted entries of over 180 teams from across the South West region and from as far a field as Gloucester and Berkshire.

Luckily, the wet weather on the eve of the event cleared on Saturday morning and up to 17 pitches were in action on both days.

Adrian Harvey, Club Chairman said "€œIt really was another great tournament for the Club. Special thanks must go to the excellent team of coaches, parents and friends who worked so hard to put on the event and make it run so smoothly. Without these people there simply would not be a tournament. Thanks must also go all our Sponsors, Crediton Rugby Club, the Referees, and the local companies that help us stage the event"

Also presented at the Tournament was the James Uren Young Referee of the Year Award to the Best Young Referee officiating at Crediton Youth home fixtures during the season. The winner for this season was Rob Stoyle.

As many people associated with Crediton Youth Football Club will be aware the last season has been punctuated by some very sad and tragic events concerning volunteers/supporters of the Club -“ James Uren and Ian Leach. As a result, the Club decided to remember and honour the support given by James and Ian by fundraising for Mind, Pete's Dragons and the Devon Air Ambulance. A raffle held at the tournament raised over £1500 thanks to the generous donation of Mr Richard Jones from R J Tyres who won the first prize and donated most of the money back to the charities.

The Club€™s next fundraising event for the charities will be on Sunday 7th July starting at 4 pm when three short games by teams from this year'€™s U16 Boys, The Coaches team and a team made up of friends of Ian Leach. The afternoon will also feature a €œLucky Line draw for an Ethan Ampadu shirt signed by Chelsea players, a pair of goal keepers gloves from West Ham United’s Adrian and a signed Exeter City Football Club Shirt. The lucky lines cost £2 each and can be purchased from any of the Club€™s coaches or from Evans Newsagent in the High Street.

We are sure the teams will appreciate everyones support on the day -€“ there will be a BBQ and bar as well as half time penalty shootouts by the Clubs younger teams. A family fun afternoon to finish off this years season whilst supporting three amazing charities.
