Weekend Round Up - 4/5 December

It was another bumper weekend for Crediton Youth FC sides. Saturday’s fixtures included some local derbies.

The U16’s hosted Copplestone Youth Sharks. A Finn Warren goal gave the home side the lead at half time. Hail and rain made things interesting for the second half, on an already heavy pitch. Full credit to the Sharks who rose to the challenge and after twice hitting the woodwork levelled the score. In the last few minutes a Sam Easton strike gave the home side bragging rights and another valuable three points.

It was two local derbies for the U10’s against Copplestone and North Tawton. Goals from Archie Reeves, Casey Philp, Daniel Southall, Oliver Brimilcombe, Oliver Wilk and Ryan Ebdy sent them home with two victories.

It was smiles all around for the U8’s as they hosted sides from Lympstone and Whipton.. Five wins and three defeats with nearly every player getting on the scoresheet capped a fine morning for them.

The U15’s made easy work of their trip to Ottery St Mary Flames. Hatrick’s from Ben Harvey and Owen Jones and singles from Eli Tanner and Jasper Hunt completed their scoring in an 8-0 victory.

Missed chances, nearly cost the U11’s away at Heavitree Youth Lightning, but a Hayden Richardson-Miller goal saw them share the points.

The U11 girls took part in the Devon FA futsal qualifier at Paignton and were amongst the two sides to go through to the next round to be held in January.

Sunday saw Crediton Youth U13 girls entertain Ottery St Mary. Another fine performance, which included a Chloe Curtis hatrick, and further goals from Bella Gurney, Evie Lewis and Ruby Turner saw them runout 6-0 winners.

This result must have capped a fine weekend for their manager Steve Lethbridge against Ottery sides. With his U15 boys beating Ottery the day before, he was in the proud position of fourteen goals scored with non conceded against the East Devon club.

The U11 girls travelled to Newton Fire and were pleased to return with a narrow victory. Lexi Mullen with a hatrick and a Lucy Budd goal sealed their result.

It was the short journey to North Tawton for the U7’s sides to get some more match experience for them. They enjoyed a fine morning of competitive football.
